Yesterday my daughters and I had the great privilege of going to the Lincoln Center in Manhattan to experience the music of The COS Young Symphonic Ensemble with the Chu family. Nathaniel Chu, one of our youth ministry seniors played cello in the orchestra. What an impressive concert! The skill level was incredible. Great job Nate! Thanks for the invite Chu family!
Speaking at Youth Retreat
This week I had the great privilege of speaking at the Long Island Alliance Church Youth Retreat in Jermyn, PA. What an awesome bunch of students! Our theme for the week was Authentic Christianity and we explored what it means to be a genuine Christian. I really enjoyed sharing God’s Word and having fun with everyone. May fruit remain.
Keith Green … Still Influencing the World 32 Years After His Death
I remember hearing about his untimely death when I was a young boy just 6 years old. I remember listening to his vinyl records in our home as I was growing up. I remember listening to certain songs over and over again, allowing the words to penetrate my heart. Keith Green had a profound impact on my young life. Later, as an adult, I read his life story in the book No Compromise by his wife Melody. Just a couple of weeks ago, we sang one of his songs in church, and I turned to my wife and said, “Keith Green’s songs are as powerful today as they were when he sang them live.” Tonight we watched the DVD version of his story with our small group of senior high students, and had a conversation afterward. Almost 32 years after his death, Keith Green continues to have an impact in the world.
Claudia Speaks at High School Club
My oldest daughter Claudia is so awesome! Yesterday I had the privilege of listening to her speak at her high school Christian Club. She is a great young speaker, and shared her story so clearly, courageously pointing her peers to Jesus. God is doing good things at Roslyn High School, and we are so proud of her!
Tennessee Trip
This past weekend I was sent to Tennessee for training with Mission Discovery, the missions organization that we are partnering with this summer for our trip to Nassau, Bahamas. I flew down, spent a day reconnecting with my buddy Jason Morant and visiting a couple of spots in Nashville including the Parthenon, then headed off for two days of very fun, informative, interactive missions training and relationship-building.

Love Long Island 2014: Day 2
On Tuesday we took our team from Shelter Rock Student Ministries and went to the Bellmont Racetrack to partner with the Racetrack Chaplaincy to host a carnival and dinner for the racetrack workers. We had a great time running the games, handing out prizes, and serving dinner to the 60+ people who show up. We also had the chance to engage some of them in conversations about faith. Bringing a smile to the faces of these hard-working folks – most of whom are separated from their families – through simple kindness in the name of Jesus was a tremendous joy and privilege.
