Fishing Trip

Yesterday our family joined about 80 other people from Shelter Rock Church for our annual fishing trip on the Atlantic. I represented the Mahaffy family by reeling in a monster 10″ sea bass which was called “cute” by the crew and promptly tossed back into the water. lol! A few people caught some keepers, and one person even caught a small shark. It was a beautiful day and a fun time of fellowship. See all the pics here.

One-on-One Dates With Our Daughters

Tonight Adriana took Natalia out on a Mommy-Daughter Date, and I took Claudia on a Daddy-Daughter Date. Adriana and Natalia went out to Smash Burger and then for frozen yogurt. Claudia and I went to play mini golf and then to eat such. Really great night of conversations and strengthening relationships.

After Edmund’s New Album

Have I mentioned how much I am totally enjoying After Edmund‘s new album Art and Commerce? These guys are so creative and make some great ear candy! I can’t stop groovin’ to it, and neither can my 15- and 11-year-old daughters, which tells you something. You need to pick this album up! Get it on iTunes here.

New Movie About To Come Out!

bannerLast night I had the privilege to attend a private pre-screening of The Investigator with the man who wrote it, Richard Romano (brother of actor/comedian Ray Romano). The movie is inspired by true events, and it’s all about finding the truth. It is a family-friendly film that is sure to spark meaningful conversations among people from all walks of life.

“Police Sergeant James Buanacore, a twenty-year veteran investigator, starts the most important investigation of his life when a drug bust goes tragically wrong, forcing James out of the job he loves and into retirement. When James’ wife Stephanie has a miscarriage, he is devastated and begins to question his previously strong faith. Depressed and angry, James isolates himself until his famous brother encourages him to take a job as a criminal justice teacher and baseball coach at a Christian high school. With his cop mentality challenging his students, James struggles through experiences with an unsupportive principal, a guidance counselor with a secret, and rebellious students. But when his best option seems to be quitting, a student challenges him to begin the investigation that will change his life, and those of his students, forever…the investigation into the homicide of Jesus Christ.”

A Song for My Daughters

Hey, hey, sweet daugther
I am so proud to be your father

Each day’s like a gift from God

Hey hey sweet daughter

There’s no music like your laughter

And your smile is like a rising sun

You know I love you from the start

So come in close take my hand

While daddy shares his heart

I wish that I could be your everything

Be the one who give you all the things you need

Sometimes I am gonna let you down

But there is a way if you just believe

He’ll be your hero like He’s always been for me

Daughter Jesus is the one you need

No matter what you walk through

He will always love you

Just the way you are

for there’s nothing in this world

There all for my baby girl

Until be happy ever after

The history at your life still untold

I pray the King of all the universe, will make your heart His home.

(Chorus)

Who will never leave spending it all alone

All in your where you came fight to Lord

Great Time in NYC with My Buddy Scott Wozniak

My good friend Scott Wozniak was in New York City for a conference. We went to Regent University in Virginia Beach together, and Scott was a great help to me in my first youth pastor job, helping mentor and disciple students – especially on our worship team. This evening I shot in on the train and we got together for dinner and great conversation at Bubba Gump in Times Square. So great catching up and hearing about his family life and his work at ChickFilA headquarters in Atlanta. Unfortunately the phone on my camera is not great and Scott’s phone died. So, this pic is the best we could do.

Mike Donnelly Used Car Salesman

On Sunday I had the great fun of doing a little skit at Shelter Rock Church as the lead-in for one of my very best friends Jack Crabtree’s message. Watch the skit (and hopefully enjoy a good laugh) then, more importantly, see how this is, unfortunately, often people’s experience with the gospel of Jesus.
